NWA 1584 is a very attractive and rare LL5 chondrite. The meteorite is characterised by a very
light coloured matrix that is full of chondrules. Many of the chondrules are of a rare glassy
type and there are also common inclusions of dark material and troilite nodules. We have had
this material for several years and it is now very difficult to get a hold of. Total known weight
was around 2 kilos. One of our favourite meteorites.
Many of the slices have glossy, black fusion crust along at least one edge, so take a close
look at the photographs. Each slice is also cut quite thin and what with the lighter weight of
this meteorite you get a good sized specimen with great surface area for the money.
