Two different falls of similar appearance but of different classification:
NWA 2849 - L4. Characterised by a light brown matrix full of grey/blue chondrules. It is
quite friable and with large cavities and a weathering grade of 3. The majority of slices
have been ground and polished on one side but only ground or left raw on the reverse as
the difference in appearance is amazing. When polished it is harder to see the
chondrules, but in the raw state the chondrules, many of which are large, leap out of the
matrix. The photographs below show a mixture of ground and polished surfaces but as
stated previously the majority have both textures preserved. Less than 1 kilo known.

NWA 2850 - L5. Also has a weathering grade of 3 but is a much more robust meteorite.
There are no cavities, the chondrules are much less distinct and a polished surface is the
best way to view these specimens. All the specimens listed have a polished face. This is a
very attractive light brown matrix with metallic flakes (which do not show up well in the
photographs but are present). Less than 1 kilo known.
