Cambrian Soft Bodied Invertebrates
|
All specimens on this page are from the Mount Simon Complex, Cambrian of Wisconsin. The fossils
are all soft bodied organisms preserved as organic stains and 3 dimensional fossils in a quartzitic
sandstone. The specimens have excellent preservation including structures rarely seen. Originally
thought to be Pre-Cambrian these fossils are now acknowledged as being Cambrian and in some
cases the last examples of their type in the fossil record. Many are still undescribed but a paper has
been written/presented by the University of California.
