A bit of information about the Elvis scarves that we sell...
Elvis threw a lot of scarves to fans over the years, but even so they are quite valuable as each one is different and
comes with a different story; different make-up stains; and different sweat stains. Scarves are highly collectable
because they are one of the easiest 'Elvis owned' items to obtain and they are instantly thought of when one thinks
about Elvis in concert. How can one get a better piece in their collection than something Elvis gave to a fan while
singing his heart out?
Scarves come in all forms and colours. The early scarves (up to the end of 1973) have no signature on them. Beginning
in January of 1974 the first signature scarves appear. From 1974 through 1976 a mixture of scarves with or without the
signature were used, but as time went on the plain scarves became increasingly rare. In fact, after 1975 it is very rare to
come across a scarf without a signature. Throughout 1976 and 1977 all scarves bore Elvis' signature.
Genuine souvenir scarves bought at the stand during Elvis' shows are also quite valuable (even though Elvis never
actually wore them) because they are bona fide concert souvenirs, just like tour books and tour photos, but they were
sold in fewer numbers and as such are now more rare. However, and this is important, this only applies to scarves that
say only 'Elvis Presley' on them. The scarves that say 'Sincerely Elvis Presley' are, in complete contrast, practically
worthless. This is for two reasons; firstly, most of these 'Sincerely' scarves came out after Elvis' death and so were not
sold at the shows. Secondly, Elvis NEVER wore the 'Sincerely' scarves on stage, so they have no real link to him. The
good thing about the scarves saying just 'Elvis Presley' is that they are exactly the same scarves as Elvis wore on
stage from 1974 until his death, which makes them much more appealing. Of course, the one problem with the latter
point is that it is impossible to tell the difference between a souvenir scarf and a scarf Elvis used - unless of course you
have sweat and make-up on the scarf and then that is a pretty good indicator that Elvis wore it! So, a good provenance
is always a must if the scarf claims to be Elvis worn.
All the scarves we have for sale are genuine Elvis worn scarves.
Every one was given to a fan by Elvis.
All scarves are as we received them - creases, folds and all.
