Lower Devonian Ostracods - Haragan - $10
All of the microfossils listed are sold as unsorted samples. Sample size varies depending on
the concentration of fossils. Sample size varies from a small capsule to a bag of material (<
1 gram to several grams in weight). Each sample contains a large number of fossils, so you
need not worry about whether a particular sample is worth the money. A microscope will
be required to sort all of these samples, but it is worth the investment as microfossils show
wonderful forms rarely seen in their larger counterparts. Identification guides are available
for many of the samples listed. A few of the known species for each sample are illustrated.
Lower Devonian sample from the White Mound type site locality for the Haragan
Formation of Oklahoma. The deposit contains a rich and prolific ostracod fauna that is
exquisitely preserved. This is one of the richest samples we have ever come across.
A .pdf guide to the Ostracods of the Haragan, Brownsport, Birdsong and Henryhouse
is available for $8. The CDRom guide contains illustrations of approximately 35 species
from the Haragan, 30 species from the Henryhouse and Brownsport, and 15 species from
the Birdsong, allowing identification of almost every ostracod that can be found in the
samples. The guide is suitable for printing.
The Frisco and Cravat ostracods represent a continuation of the Haragan fauna and as such
are very similar. At present neither fauna has been described, so any specific differences
have not been recorded. However, the guide listed above does allow determination of many
of the genera.
The Haragan, Cravat and Frisco represent an unbroken depositional series in the Lower
Devonian of Oklahoma and as such show faunal changes through time. The Birdsong Shale
is of the same age as the Cravat and is a good comparative fauna that was preserved in the
same Devonian ocean. The Henryhouse and Brownsport are Upper Silurian faunas that
transitioned into the Lower Devonian and again represent faunas of the same age deposited
at different ends of an ancient sea. These 6 samples make an excellent study set for faunas
from the Upper Silurian through Lower Devonian and the changes therein.

a prolific ostracod fauna that is exquisitely preserved. The sample also contains a
Tentaculitid fauna that is more abundant than we have ever seen before. A superb
sample that perfectly compliments the Lower Devonian sample listed previously.

Upper Silurian Ostracods - Henryhouse - $10
Upper Silurian sample from the Henryhouse Formation of Oklahoma. The deposit
contains a rich and prolific ostracod fauna that is exquisitely preserved. One of the
richest Silurian samples we have seen. See the Haragan listing for more information.

Ordovician Ostracods - Decorah Shale - $10
A well preserved, mixed fauna from the Ordovician age Decorah Shale. The deposit
contains conodonts, ostracods, unusual egg cases and other forms of invertebrate.

Upper Silurian Ostracods - Brownsport - $10
Upper Silurian sample from the Brownsport Group of Oklahoma. The deposit contains a
rich and prolific microfauna that is exquisitely preserved. The ostracod fauna is almost
identical to that from the Henryhouse. See the Haragan listing for more information.
Lower Devonian Ostracods - Birdsong - $10
Lower Devonian sample from the Birdsong Shale of Tennessee. The deposit contains
a diverse ostracod fauna that is very similar to that obtained from the Haragan
Formation of Oklahoma. See the Haragan listing for more information.
Pennsylvanian Ostracods - Gene Autrey Shale - $10
An unusual fauna from the Pennsylvanian of Oklahoma. We believe this deposit has been
renamed or represents a facies of a larger unit as we have had little success in finding it
listed in the literature. However, the fauna is distinct with strange forms of ostracods and
foraminifera, in addition to vertebrate remains and common invertebrates.

FUSULINIDS
Pennsylvanian - South Bend Shale - $10
OSTRACODS
An unusual fauna from the Pennsylvanian of
Texas. Practically every small fossil that weathers
out of this deposit is a perfectly preserved three
dimensional fusulinid. This sample contains
dozens of specimens with practically no matrix or
other fossils - just fusulinids.
Permian - Bennet Shale - $10
A typical marine fauna that is rich in fusulinids.
Each sample also has abundant examples of
the major typical marine groups (crinoids,
bryozoans etc.) all of which show wonderful
preservation.
Permian - Johnson Shale - $10
An excellent sample very rich in fusulinids and
other microfossils from the Permian of Kansas.
Preservation is fabulous and in our opinion this
is one the best Permian sample we have ever
had. Hours of work in each sample and
hundreds of fossils.
Lower Devonian Ostracods - Frisco - $10
Lower Devonian sample from the Frisco Limestone of Oklahoma. The deposit contains
a diverse ostracod fauna that is very similar to that obtained from the Haragan and
Cravat Formations. See the Haragan listing for more information.
Lower Devonian Ostracods - Cravat - $10
Lower Devonian sample from the Cravat Member of the Bois d'Arc Formation of
Oklahoma. The deposit contains an ostracod fauna that is very similar to that obtained
from the Haragan and Frisco Formations. See the Haragan listing for more information.
