MicroFossils
Lower Devonian Ostracods - Haragan Formation
All of the microfossils listed are sold as unsorted samples.
Sample size varies depending on the concentration of
fossils. Sample size varies from a small capsule to a bag
of material (< 1 gram to several grams in weight). Each
sample contains a large number of fossils.

Many samples come with an ID card to allow
you to name many of the species that you find.
Lower Devonian sample from the White Mound type site locality for the Haragan Formation of Oklahoma.
The deposit contains a rich and prolific ostracod fauna that is exquisitely preserved. This is one of the richest
samples we have ever come across.
The Haragan and Frisco represent a depositional series in the Lower Devonian of Oklahoma and as
such show faunal changes through time. The Birdsong Shale of Tennessee is of the same age and is
a good comparative fauna that was preserved on the other side of the same Devonian ocean. The
Henryhouse and Brownsport are Upper Silurian faunas that transitioned into the Lower Devonian and
again represent faunas of the same age deposited at different ends of an ancient sea.
Middle Devonian Ostracods - Silica Shale - $10
Middle Devonian sample from the Silica Shale of Sylvania, Ohio. The deposit contains a prolific
ostracod fauna that is exquisitely preserved. The sample also contains a Tentaculitid fauna that
is more abundant than we have ever seen before. A superb sample that perfectly compliments
the Lower Devonian sample listed previously.
Ponderodictya
punctulifera
Nowakia sp.
Tentaculites sp.
Kirbyella bellipuncta
Upper Silurian Ostracods - Henryhouse Formation
Upper Silurian sample from the Henryhouse Formation of Oklahoma. The deposit contains a rich and
prolific ostracod fauna that is exquisitely preserved. One of the richest Silurian samples we have seen.
Ordovician Ostracods - Decorah Shale - $10
A well preserved, mixed fauna from the Ordovician age Decorah Shale. The deposit contains
conodonts, ostracods, unusual egg cases and other forms of invertebrate.
Bromidella depressa
Tetradella ellipsilera
Egg Cases
Hallatia convexa
Upper Silurian Ostracods - Brownsport Formation
Upper Silurian sample from the Brownsport Group of Oklahoma. The deposit contains a rich and prolific
microfauna that is exquisitely preserved. The ostracod fauna is almost identical to that from the Henryhouse.
Lower Devonian Ostracods - Birdsong Shale
Lower Devonian sample from the Birdsong Shale of Tennessee. The deposit contains a diverse
ostracod fauna that is very similar to that obtained from the Haragan Formation of Oklahoma.
Pennsylvanian Ostracods - Gene Autrey Shale - $10
An unusual fauna from the Pennsylvanian of Oklahoma. We believe this deposit has been
renamed or represents a facies of a larger unit as we have had little success in finding it
listed in the literature. However, the fauna is distinct with strange forms of ostracods and
foraminifera, in addition to vertebrate remains and common invertebrates.
Pseudoparaparchites
Ostracod
Nodosinella glenensis
Foraminifera
Emphissites nodosus
Ostracod
Cornuspira semiconstrictus
Foraminifera
Fusulinids - $10 per sample
Pennsylvanian - South Bend Shale
OSTRACODS
An unusual fauna from the Pennsylvanian of Texas.
Practically every small fossil that weathers out of this
deposit is a perfectly preserved three dimensional
fusulinid. This sample contains dozens of specimens
with practically no matrix or other fossils - just fusulinids.
Permian - Bennet Shale
A typical marine fauna that is rich in fusulinids. Each
sample also has abundant examples of the major typical
marine groups (crinoids, bryozoans etc.) all of which
show wonderful preservation.
Permian - Johnson Shale
An excellent sample very rich in fusulinids and other
microfossils from the Permian of Kansas. Preservation
is fabulous and in our opinion this is one the best
Permian sample we have ever had. Hours of work in
each sample and hundreds of fossils.
Lower Devonian Ostracods - Frisco Limestone
Lower Devonian sample from the Frisco Limestone of Oklahoma. The deposit contains a diverse
ostracod fauna that is very similar to that obtained from the Haragan and Cravat Formations.

Upper Silurian - Lower Devonian $10 Each
Middle Devonian Ostracods - Olentangy Shale - $10
Middle Devonian sample from Ohio. The deposit contains a prolific ostracod fauna that is
exquisitely preserved. The sample also contains a Tentaculitid fauna. A superb sample that has
many similaraties to the Silica Shale.
Ordovician Ostracods - Bromide Formation - $10
A set of 3 samples from the Bromide Formation of Oklahoma. Rich in ostracods and all manner
of marine invertebrate remains, including trilobites, the samples represent the upper, middle and
lower sections of the Pooleville Member of the Bromide Formation.
