This is a collection of 27 invertebrate microfossil samples ranging in age from Ordovician to
Triassic. Each sample is individually bagged and numbered and is unsorted. There is a wide variety
of material in this collection all of which is suitable for picking out microfossils including, crinoid
remains, bryozoans, brachiopods etc. Each sample has abundant fossils that can be picked and
sorted with the use of any microscope. Just a few of the samples are shown below:
A sample from the Cerro
Gorda shale, Upper
Devonian of Iowa. Good
preservation is evident in
the sample that represent
a typical marine deposit.
Fayetteville Shale, Mississippian,
Oklahoma. Good preservation is
evident in the sample that
represent a typical marine deposit.
Very rich in Bryozoans.
St. Genevieve Limestone,
Mississippian, of Alabama.
The material is rich in
bryozoans and crinoidal
debris.
Manning Canyon Shale,
Mississippian, Utah.
Echinoderm material is very
evident, especially echinoid
spines.
Stull Shale,
Pennsylvanian, Kansas.
Very rich in fenestellate
bryozoans with good pore
preservation.
Lester Limestone, Oklahoma
Very rich in fenestellate
bryozoans with good pore
preservation.

This collection also includes many of the samples featured on Microfossils Page 1. Forty
samples in all representing a fantastic picture of changing faunas through geological time.
Ultimate Microfossil Collection...£100/$165
This listing is for a comprehensive collection of the BEST microfossil samples that we have -
including many vertebrate bearing samples. In all there are TWENTY FOUR different samples
which between them contain ostracods, fusulinids, conodonts, reptiles, amphibians, sharks, fish
and perhaps even dinosaurs and mammals. Samples cover the Ordovician through Cretaceous
and only the Jurassic is missing. This is a rare opportunity to get a reference collection of
microfossils that covers almost all of the Palaeozoic and Mesozoic. Many samples have full
colour ID cards so that you can put names on many of the specimens that you find:
Ostracod rich samples
The collection consists of a sample of washed and sieved fossil rich matrix from each of the
deposits listed that can be picked for the abundant ostracods. There will be hundreds of ostracods
in this collection, making it an ideal item for study.
1.) Lower Pooleville Member, Bromide Formation, Ordovician
2.) Middle Pooleville Member, Bromide Formation, Ordovician
3.) Upper Pooleville Member, Bromide Formation, Ordovician

Cretaceous Vertebrates
24.) Hell Creek Formation – fish and reptilian teeth plus bone fragments from mammals and other
groups.
Again, this collection is the best 24 samples we currently have (excluding Cretaceous invertebrate
material which can be found in the listing that follows) and will provide thousands of fossils. To see
images of any particular sample in the collection then please look at our Microfossil page and
Vertebrate Microfossil page. This set offers great value for money when compared to buying the
samples individually.
This collection is for 20 different microfossil bearing samples from the Cretaceous to Pleistocene. All
are from marine environments. Foraminifera and ostracods are the most common fossils, but other
types can be found. As with many Cretaceous and tertiary deposits, these are not all as rich as
Palaeozoic samples but larger samples are included so that abundant fossils can still be recovered.
A microscope is essential to sort this material as foraminifera are small microfossils. The exact
content of the collection varies based on what we have at any time but specimens are usually included
from:
Cretaceous - Demopolis Formation - Marlbrook Marl - Pecan Gap Mark - Kemp Formation
Palaeocene - Matthews Landing Marl - Landenian Belgium
Eocene - Pachuta Formation
Oligocene - Bucutunna Clay - Red Bluff Clay
Miocene - Sarmantian Austria
Pliocene - Core Hole Philippines - Rio Torsero Italy
Pleistocene - Lomita Marl
Many samples are from the USA but some are from more exotic locations such as Austria and The
Philippines. Some typical samples are shown above.
