Richards Spur II
Mycterosaurus longiceps - Varanopsid pelycosaur
Mycterosaurus Jaw with
one tooth #1 - £30/$50
Excellent quality specimen
preserving one complete
serrated tooth in a small
section of jaw. Specimen
measures ~6 mm.
The following blade teeth are rare examples of the frontal maxilla caniniform teeth of Mycterosaurus. They are
some of the most distinct Pelycosaur fossils we have ever had. Great preservation andhighly recommended.
Mycterosaurus skull fragment - £10/$15

These pieces of skull all retain partial teeth or tooth bases
and empty sockets. Each specimen varies in size from 10 to
20 mm and shows excellent bone detail of what was part of
the skull. Some of the broken teeth retain serrations on the
carinae.
Pelycosaurs & Parareptiles
Colobomycter pholeter? teeth - £6/$10
Another rare but super fossil from this poorly understood parareptile. Again these teeth
are likely from a sub-adult as they are not fully grown.
Colobomycter is a rare member of
the Richards Spur fauna but was a definite predator. Like
Thrausmosaurus it is believed it
was living in the cave complexes of the site and feeding on the abundant
Captorhinus and
Doleserpeton. Each tooth is complete as shown. Only the caniform and precanine teeth
are recurved (and all of our specimens are like this). The teeth have two carinae but are
not serrated. Typical specimens measure ~3 to 4 mm long.
Mycterosaurus Caudal Vertebra
Complete centrum with neural arch - £15/$25
Complete centrum only - £6/$10
Rare vertebrae belonging to one of the dominant Pelycosaurs
from the Richards Spur locality. Specimens typically measure
around 10mm/ 0.5 inches long and show excellent bone
preservation. We have a few articulated specimens available
with two or three vertebrae in series. Cost is $35 per vertebrae
Colobomycter pholeter?
Miscellaneous Pelycosaurs
Delorhynchus priscus
Delorhynchus is another poorly known parareptile from Richard's Spur. Like Thrausmosaurus it
was described from only a small section of skull bearing teeth. The teeth are strongly recurved
with two distinct carinae but are not serrated.
Mycterosaurus premax #2
£20/$35
This fragment of skull preserves
some imperfect teeth and part of the
frontal region of the skull.  The
specimen measures ~10 mm long.
Delorhynchus priscus isolated tooth - £6/$10
An excellent quality complete tooth of this rare parareptile. Both carine
are preseved and the tip is sharp or showing only slight wear from use
in life. These teeth are quite small, measuring only 4 to 5 mm long, but
the animal was not particularly large and is another enigmatic member
of the fauna at Richards Spur.
Articulated Pelycosaur partial ankle - £30/$50
An excellent quality partially articulated foot and ankle of an
unidentified Pelycosaur. The image on the left shows the
specimen in a one inch gem jar. There are 8 or 9 articulated
wrist or ankle bones in this piece and all are still attached
just as they were found. Rare.
Articulated Pelycosaur wrist - £15/$25

An excellent quality partially articulated ankle of an
unidentified Pelycosaur. The image on the left shows
the specimen in a one inch gem jar. There are 2 very
nicely nicely detailed and still articulated wrist or ankle
bones in this piece. Rare.
Mycterosaurus longiceps Thoracic vertebrae - £25/$40

Another rare and excellent fossil. These specimens are complete
vertebrae with the neural arch, centrum and some of the neural spine
intact. Specimens measure ~5/8 inch/15 mm tall and have excellent
bone preservation.
Mycterosaurus tibia - £35/$50

A rare repaired and restored limb bone from this early
Pelycosaur. Both ends of the limb bone are excellently
preserved and it is only part of the shaft that has been
repaired and restored - the area in question is clear to
see. Any type of pelycosaur material is rare at Richard's
Spur but limb bones are almost never encountered.
Typical specimen measures ~1.5 to 2 inches long.
Mycterosaurus humerus - £20/$35

A rare repaired and restored limb bone from this early
Pelycosaur. Both ends of the limb bone are excellently
preserved and it is only part of the shaft that has been
repaired and restored - the area in question is clear to
see. Any type of pelycosaur material is rare at Richard's
Spur but limb bones are almost never encountered.
Typical specimen measures ~1.5 inches long.
Varanops brevirostris
Varanops tibia - £100/$150
A very rare but super fossil from this large but well known pelycosaur. This is the only specimen we have ever had
from this giant of the Richards Spur fauna.
Varanops was one of the largest predators at Richard's Spur and although
this tibia has been repaired and restored mid shaft the rest of the piece shows excellent, glossy bone preservation.
By far one of the best limb bones we have had from the locality and one for the serious collector. Expensive, but
consider the rarity compared to even
T. rex toe bones. Highly recommended and the only one we have had (and
probably will ever have).
PARAREPTILES
Oromycter dolesorum
Oromycter is one of the rarest pelycosaurs at Richards Spur. Very few specimens are known. Belongs to the
Caseids, one of the most distinct Permian groups.
Oromycter toe bone - £50/$80
An absolutely perfect and very rare Caseid toe bone. One of
the few specimens ever found at Richards Spur. Measures
~16 mm long. Beautiful.
Oromycter claw and toe
£125/$200

bone and claw. One of the few
specimens ever found. The ungual
measures ~14 mm long.
Oromycter tooth
£60/$100
A very rare complete Caseid tooth with some of the root. The distinct leaf-like
serrations are evident on the crown. The only specimen we have ever had.
Measures ~6mm long.
